This week, I’m looking at A24: the independent studio behind the OSCARS winner Everything Everywhere All At Once.
A24 has established itself as a major player in the entertainment industry since 2012, producing and distributing films & TV series that challenge conventions and captivate audiences.
Some of their most well-known films include Moonlight, Lady Bird, The Florida Project, Hereditary, Midsommar, or Uncut Gems. And of course the multiverse comedy Everything Everywhere All At Once that just won 7 OSCARS including Best Picture.
A24 also made a name for itself in the TV industry, producing and distributing series such as Euphoria and Ramy, that received critical acclaim.
A unique aspects of A24 business model is the choice of limited theatrical releases followed by digital releases. This strategy allowed A24 to cultivate a loyal fanbase and generate buzz for their films, even with smaller marketing budgets.
The success of A24 can also be attributed to their ability to identify and support emerging filmmakers, providing them with the resources and creative freedom necessary to bring their visions to life. The company has also been praised for its commitment to diversity and representation, both on and off-screen.

The membership costs $5/month or $55/year at launch for US customers, and $9.99/month or $99/year for all other countries.

I believe content providers have a lot to learn from A24’s community strategy. Today, films & TV series are powerful brands and their success will heavily depend on their fans and the support of their communities.
I’m convinced the model of A24 is the future of building powerful entertainment companies.
