FAST Channel Expansion in MENA: January 2023 - September 2024
From 4 to 10 FAST players in just 2 years
STARZ ON is still on top with over 60 channels, nearly a year into its AVOD and FAST journey.
Shahid, on the other hand, is taking a different approach. Their channel count is down to 41 - Its lowest since January 2023.
Samsung TV+, the only international platform on the list, has been surprisingly quiet. Even after launching in July with 20 channels - half of them from its preferred partner, Shahid - there’s been no new additions since.
Other local Platforms continue to show a flat trend, mainly due to the significant costs and investments required to create new FAST channels.
As we reach the final quarter of the year, there’s hope that the trend will pick up. With Netflix ready to launch its Ad-supported tier in early 2025, the streaming advertising landscape in MENA is set to evolve. This could be a game-changer, boosting the FAST model into the market.
