We have come a long way since Hotstar launched as one of India’s first few OTTs in 2015 and Reliance Jio kickstarted the mobile data driven streaming revolution when they became publicly available only in 2016!
As we have all witnessed, in a short span of 7-8 years, India has seen streaming video explode like never before. This fast and furious pace of growth in video consumption has also given rise to home grown innovation in media technologies and related startups that deserve a closer look.
Our attempt here is to bring to surface some known and a few lesser known gems that could potentially be game changers in our field and day to day lives as media professionals.
Voiro - Business Management Suite for Ad Monetization Teams
Started in 2014, Voiro is a SaaS based media technology company, headquartered in Bangalore. Their revenue analytics platform for content-led companies is trusted by global media powerhouses.
Being one of the early players in this market, Voiro was able to get a front-row view of how the publisher ecosystem was turning a corner on technology. The company unlocks a data-driven approach to accelerating revenue.
Their customers are some of the largest owners of online ad inventory in India and abroad, across the OTT and e-commerce verticals.

With offices in the US, UK, Europe, Israel, and India, they work with enterprises across numerous industries like OTT Platforms, Sports Broadcasters, Leagues, Sports Federations, E-gaming platforms, Colleges and more.
Their early days were around video commerce - enabling the purchase of products within a video - product called Toch. The significant learnings around immersive video and AI helped them pivot to the more lucrative highlights & sports verticals!
Neural Garage - End Visual Dissonance in Dubbing
Their first product VisualDub bridges the gap between a seamless viewing experience and consumption of non-native content - Enter a new cinematic age with natural lip sync and high impact storytelling. Visual dubbing while retaining authentic cinematic experience across multiple languages, powered by AI.
They use machine learning and AI to sync the lips and jaw movements of the actor to the dubbed audio, thereby making the video look authentic with different languages!
Plus they come with an API integration to your platform where you can automate hundreds of videos with visual dubbing.
Tessact - An AI-powered video creation suite for the people of video
An ambitious team with 35+ years of experience in the Media & Entertainment domain, they bring together stakeholders of the content creator economy into a single collaborative SasS platform with powerful automation tools.
