What is a single IP channel in the world of FAST?
Free Ad-Supported Streaming Television (FAST) includes today a large variety of channels:
Single IP channels are focused on a single TV series or franchise
O&O channels are programmed and owned by the FAST platforms
Pop-up channels are designed for holidays or events
Curated channel are based on a proper scheduling
Niche channels are targeting underserved audiences
News channels
Sports channels
And more to come ;)
I like how Alan Wolk anticipates the FAST channels to be designed around 3 main categories, keeping the definitions simple:
« Single IP channels, primarily from big media companies and news organizations, that live across all of the major FAST aggregators. (This includes single series channels.) »
« Curated channels, where each service gets to show off their programming chops and create something that really resonates with viewers. »
« Personalized channels. Because AI will continue to evolve and allow for the creation of […] personalized channels […] in the years to come. »
Let’s focus today on single IP channels, starting with their ratio per platform 👇
The FAST platforms leading the single IP channels race
I created the graph below to better understand the single IP channels penetration per platform but also per region. Thank you again to my research partner Stream Metrics for trusting The Streaming Lab to share these data.
The color code is based on 4 main regions/countries:
Blue: North America (US and Canada)
Yellow: Europe (Spain, UK, France, Italy and Germany)
Orange: MENA
Green: Australia
In summary:
Pluto TV holds significant single IP channel ratio across multiple regions/countries, especially in Europe and Canada.
The US market is quite fragmented with multiple platforms having similar single IP shares, indicating the strong potential of this kind of channels.
For the MENA region, Shahid and Roya TV seem to be the leading platforms.
In Australia, 10 Play and 7plus have the highest percentage of single IP channels, with other platforms having a lesser ratio.
Here are my detailed observations per region and country:
North America
US: ViX+ leads the single IP channels penetration with 35%, closely followed by Freevee at 32%, Pluto TV at 31%, and Tubi at 27%. Other platforms like Vizio, LG Channels and Roku also have a significant single IP channels ratio.
Canada: Pluto TV dominates with a 50% share of single IP channels. Roku and Samsung TV Plus also invested in single IP channels, with a 29% and 22% ratio, respectively.
Europe
Spain: Pluto TV takes the lead with 45% of single IP Channels, with LG Channels at 26% and Samsung TV Plus at 16%.
UK: The UK market is very single IP oriented with Pluto TV at 49%, Freevee at 47%, and ITVX at 36%. Samsung TV Plus and Rakuten also have shares of 19% and 14%, respectively.
France: Pluto TV stands out with 43% of single IP channels, followed by LG Channels and Samsung TV Plus both at 24%. Rakuten has a 10% penetration for this kind of channels.
Italy: Pluto TV leads with 36%, followed by LG Channels at 21%. Both Samsung TV Plus and Rakuten have smaller ratio at 9% and 7%.
Germany: Pluto TV dominates the single IP channels race worldwide with a 52% penetration. Other platforms like LG Channels, Freevee, and Samsung TV Plus have 25%, 22%, and 11% shares, respectively.
MENA
Platforms from MENA include Shahid at 37%, closely followed by Roya TV at 36% and El Shasha at 25%. Weyyak is at the lower end with 13% of single IP channels.
Australia
Platforms in Australia show 10 Play leading at 47%, followed by 7plus at 25%. LG Channels and Fetch have shares of 18% and 11% respectively. rlaxx TV has the smallest share at 2%.
The new single IP FAST channels in MENA

Helwa Ya Donya (Roya TV)
That’s all for today, the FAST platforms with the most single IP Channels Worldwide. If you enjoyed this breakdown, please consider sharing it with your friends and colleagues.
I hope everyone has a great week, see you online next Monday. Until then, enjoy Medinah, the first bilingual Sci-Fi original series from STARZPLAY. Set in a near-future Qatar, this mind-bending series will ask their characters to choose between survival, legacy or love.
