Today, we’re generating fun pictures.
Tomorrow? We’ll be creating short clips, full episodes, even movies, in any style you can dream of: The Simpsons, LEGO, The Muppet Show… you name it.
What happens next?
If people start monetizing that content, yes, copyright becomes a serious issue.
But here’s where it gets tricky:
Most AI models are trained on “publicly available” works.
That gives AI companies a good excuse to say
“We’re not copying Studio Ghibli, just learning from what’s online.”
And let’s be honest, OpenAI probably added millions of new paid users thanks to this update.
So… what’s the solution?
Maybe it’s partnerships
Like Runway and Lionsgate: where IP owners give permission for AI to train on their content, for a specific use case.
