What’s next?
And… Action!
Who are you?
The Streaming Lab newsletter has experienced a strong growth in its subscriber base. One year after its launch in May 2022, it reached the milestone of 1,000 subscribers. This trajectory accelerated significantly, taking less than six months to more than double the subscriber count, reaching 2,000 subscribers this week!
The Streaming Lab has a global reach with readers now coming from 87 countries. What’s interesting is the geographical distribution of the audience: Approximately 25% of the readership is based in MENA, with a substantial portion originating from the United Arab Emirates, showing the region's interest in streaming-related content.
Following the MENA region, the newsletter's readership is distributed across several other countries, including India, the UK, the US and France. These countries represent significant hubs of interest, confirming the international appeal of the newsletter insights and updates.
Streaming in India
The Middle East and India share historical, cultural, and economic ties. Both regions have a history of trade and cultural exchange and share cuisine, language, and religious diversity. They also represent today significant markets for streaming services.
For several months now, I’ve been thinking to replicate the success of The Streaming Lab to another region. My choice turned out to be an easy one: I just had to look where my readers are coming from. And since the launch of the newsletter, more than 10% of my subscribers come from India.
But I couldn’t do it alone. I needed someone with experience in the streaming Indian ecosystem, and Vinit came at the right time: he witnessed and has been part of the rise of streaming in India since the launch of the first OTTs in the country. He is passionate about all things video: tech, content, business models, the players, the streaming wars, the fans, sports and everything in between.
And this is it, Streaming in India was born: your weekly round-up of India and streaming news. Here are the six articles already available:
If you are already a subscriber of The Streaming Lab, you still need to sign up to Streaming in India from your Substack settings page to receive it directly in your inbox every Wednesday.
You can also read the articles directly from the website HERE. A good transition for my next point 👇
